Some Places Lower The Noise Inside You

I have started believing that certain places affect the mind almost like weather affects the body.

Some places overstimulate you constantly.

Noise.
Movement.
Advertising.
Traffic.
Pressure to keep up.

Even resting starts feeling slightly stressful.

But there are also places where something inside begins slowing down naturally without effort.

The Alpujarra feels like one of those places.

Not because life here is perfect.

It isn’t.

But because the rhythm of the environment gently changes your internal rhythm too.

Mornings arrive slower here.

People sit longer.

Meals stretch into conversations.

And somehow, the mountains themselves seem to absorb part of the mental noise people carry with them.

I started noticing this most during evenings.

The moment when sunlight disappears behind the hills and villages become quiet except for distant voices, dogs barking somewhere far away, or plates moving inside nearby homes.

Nothing dramatic happens.

Yet those moments stay with you.

Maybe because they remind you how little humans actually need to feel connected to life again.
